Meet our “Get into Summer” Honeymoon Giveaway Winners!

Congratulations to our lucky “Get Into Summer” Honeymoon Giveaway winners, Hoda and Abdullah from Falls Church, VA!

Just yesterday, Hoda stepped off an overseas flight on return from visiting her family in Yemen. We gave her quite a surprise this morning when we told our still jet-lagged winner that she had a scored a dream honeymoon in Maui for her and her fiance, Abdullah. “I still can’t believe it!” says Hoda. “I’m still a little out of it from the flight, and I thought I had misunderstood.”

Hoda and Abdullah have known one another for their entire lives and they got engaged on July 31, 2010. It’s been a bit of a long engagement, complicated by the fact that Abdullah was in Yemen and Hoda was in Virginia, and by a wedding woe familiar to many brides-to-be – budget concerns. In fact, Hoda has been actively entering lots of wedding related to contests to attempt to defray some of the costs, making it very delightful for us to tell her one of the more expensive components of a dream wedding is now taken care of! “We don’t have a definite date yet,” says Hoda. “We’re flexible with the date, because we’re still trying to find the funds for the wedding. A honeymoon helps, though!”

While Hoda described Abdullah’s proposal as one that some may find “cheesy,” we’re willing to bet it will make everyone say, “Aww!” While visiting Abdullah in Yemen, the pair found themselves on the rooftop, just talking. All of that just talking went on all night, and, just as the sun was rising, Abdullah proposed. “He just straight up said, ‘We should get married’ and of course I said yes! It was great because the sun was just rising and it was really romantic,” says Hoda.

Even though the wedding planning is going slowly, Hoda knows it will be a small wedding, with close friends and family. And though many of the details are still up in the air, Hoda has done a bit of dress shopping. “Of course! You don’t want it to get down to the wire and not have something to wear!” says Hoda. “I haven’t picked out the dress just yet, but I have narrowed it down to a few. It seems like there are new dresses to choose from every day!”
